A second half goal line stand helped the Big Spring Bulldogs stave off the James Buchanan Rockets in their season opener Friday at Bulldog Stadium, 20-6.

Clinging to a 13-6 second half lead, the Big Spring (1-0) defense stopped the Rockets (0-1) four straight times at the goalline to remain ahead and regain momentum, and Dillon Wakefield -- who totaled 101 yards rushing and a pair of touchdowns in the contest -- added a fourth quarter score to complete the grind-it-out victory.
