Area residents opposed to the sale of the Cumberland County-owned Claremont Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Carlisle rallied last week in hopes county commissioners will “pause the plan,” and consider all options to keep the home under county control. They especially feel it is not in the best interest to sell the home during a pandemic.

Newville Borough Council also recently issued a proclamation urging the commissioners to reconsider selling the home, and working with the Carlisle Partnership for Better Health “to explore ways to economize and improve the efficiency of Claremont’s operations during these difficult economic times, which are challenging for all municipal, county and state operations due to the unprecedented economic implications of the COVID-19 pandemic.”
