Two Greyhound athletes were recently recognized as among the best in central Pa. at the PennLive High School Sports Award Banquet held Wednesday, May 18, at Central Penn College. Senior Anthony Smith, for his exploits both on the gridiron (16 sacks) and the basketball court (17.3 points per game), was named PennLive’s 2021-22 Male Athlete of the Year. Ship softball’s Cierra Bender was tabbed area Softball Player of the Year, following a junior season that saw her post a .486 batting average to go with a 14-1 record and a 1.32 ERA in the circle.
