Acasia Beam

Acasia Beam battles for two in the paint during the Lady Greyhounds’ season-opening setback against Colonial Division rivals Big Spring Tuesday night at SASHS.

The addition of some new faces on varsity, as well as some old players returning from injury, forced the Shippensburg High School girls basketball team to shake off quite a bit of rust in a loss to rivals Big Spring in their season opener Tuesday at SASHS, 42-32.

The Bulldogs were playing without four key players, yet still managing to bounce back defensively after surrendering 70 points in a loss to Columbia this past weekend. They did so by clogging the paint with a zone defense and keeping turnovers to a minimum, the combination did not allow the Greyhounds much in the way of easy looks at the basket.
