I was extremely disappointed to read the article in your April 8 edition, “State Reps. introduce bill to keep women’s sports fun and fair.” The headline, especially, is a misrepresentation of this discriminatory legislation. “Fun and fair??” I can assure you that the targets of this legislation, transgender girls, do not feel this way.

Transgender girls, who are already facing a difficult journey and often cruel discrimination, do not threaten our daughters’ ability to compete fairly in school athletics. They represent just 0.6 percent of the U.S. population, and studies have yet to show any measurable advantage for transgender girls over other girls, particularly after hormone therapy.
