Voneda L. Mansberger

Voneda Louise “Vonnie” Mansberger, 77, of Chambersburg, Pennsylvania, passed away Wednesday evening, Aug. 4, 2021, at the WellSpan Chambersburg Hospital.

Born Aug. 28, 1943, in Chambersburg, she was a daughter of the late Preston L. Cook Sr. and Dorothy Thompson Cook. Vonnie was a 1961 graduate of the Chambersburg Area Senior High School, and was employed for 35 years at the Scotland School for Veterans’ Children, retiring in 2003 as the Clothing Superintendent.

She was an active member of King Street United Brethren Church in Chambersburg where she taught Sunday School, Bible school, and at the after-school program. She enjoyed teaching children about God, and in addition to teaching at her church, she volunteered with the Good News Club and with the Child Evangelism Fellowship.

She is survived by her husband, Willis Mansberger, whom she married Nov. 5, 1967; her son, Kevin Mansberger of Frederick, Maryland; her daughter, Katina Grove (Joe) of Shippensburg; three grandchildren, Briana Mansberger, Benjamin Grove and Julianne Grove; her sister, Susan Truett; and two brothers, Preston Cook Jr. and Roger Cook.

Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 11, 2021, in the Chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg, Pa. Pastor Lester Kauffman officiated. Interment followed at Parklawns Memorial Gardens. The family received friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
