A 37-year-old Nashville, Tennessee man was killed when he lost control of the Freightliner he was driving along U.S. 30 in Peters Township Sunday morning, which overturned after it hit an embankment, spilling laundry detergent along the road.
Pennsylvania State Police said the man was traveling east down a steep mountain pass at 9:17 a.m. when witnesses said smoke was seen coming from the brakes. The truck continued to gain speed before the driver lost control and hit the embankment. The truck overturned onto its driver's side while crossing into the opposite lane, and then hit a guide rail. The man, whose name is being withheld pending notification of next of kin, was pronounced dead at the scene by the Franklin County Coroner's Office.
