Hats off to the Shippensburg Fair Committee for bringing the largest crowd of the week to the fairgrounds Saturday evening with the musical performance of Back in Black: A True AC/DC Experience at the bandshell, combined with the Truck & Tractor Pull at the Gro-Mar Arena.

The grassy area at the bandshell was packed with people sitting in their lounge chairs and on blankets, all enjoying the free concert featuring many of AC/DC’s hard rock classics.

Harry Truett of Chambersburg said, “I have been following this group for many years, and they are the closest band to AC/DC. Look at this crowd here tonight! The band is putting on a great show, as usual.”

William Unger of Shippensburg said, “I’ve known this band for a long time, and as the group leader said, they have been together for 38 years. If I’m correct they once played at The Hot Point bar here in Shippensburg many years ago when they first formed as a group. The crowd is into them, some up and dancing.”

Lily Spruce of Shippensburg said, “I’m a little older than this group, and they are the best around for my age group and I was an AC/DC fan and follower back in my younger days. They are great.”

Across the fairgrounds, the Truck and Tractor Pull garnered, as always, a strong crowd as drivers ran many different classes. Both sides of the grass were filled with spectators watching the pulls in the center of the Gro-Mar Arena.

Lucy Cromwell of Biglerville said, “I brought my grandchildren to the fair to ride the rides, and we stayed to watch the pulls. I’ve been to a lot of pulls and Shippensburg always has a great show.  This isn’t my first time here; you could say I’m a regular when they pull here in Shippensburg.”
