Tuesday evening’s Baked Goods Auction at the Shippensburg Fair was the place to be if you had a sweet tooth and were looking for something to fill it with! Everything from whoopie pies, fudge, cookies and cupcakes to sticky buns and coffee cakes were up for grabs at the annual auction that benefits the Home Products Division of the fair.

The auction began promptly at 5:30 with Chris Bream of Dan Hershey Auctioneers auctioning off sticky buns that went for a whopping $29.50! Chocolate cakes sold for $25, whoopie pies and cookies went for record prices, too, as well as pies and other sweet treats. According to Bream, it all depends on how the item placed during judging as to how well it sells. “If an item earned first place honors, it usually sells well, and I usually let folks know when I start off the bidding that the items placed first, second or whatever. This always helps bring in more money for the auction, which, in the end, benefits the Home Products Buildings, so it’s a good cause.” Bream noted.
