Helicopter Crash

An Air Methods medical helicopter that traveled from WellSpan Chambersburg Hospital to Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia crashed Tuesday while transporting a pediatric patient. No fatalities were reported in the accident.

All passengers are reported to have survived a medical helicopter crash Tuesday that was headed to Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP) from WellSpan Chambersburg Hospital.

“Today an Air Methods-owned aircraft experienced an accident in Drexel Hill, Pennsylvania. The EC 135 aircraft in question was from the LifeNet program, based out of Hagerstown, Maryland. There were no fatalities associated with this accident and the patient and crew are receiving medical evaluation. The FAA and NTSB have been made aware of this incident, and investigators are enroute to assess the situation. Our team will cooperate fully with their efforts to assess the cause of this unfortunate accident. Privacy rights with regard to those on board the aircraft will be honored, and we will not be sharing any additional information,” Doug Flanders, vice president of communications, Air Methods, wrote in a statement released by the company Tuesday.
