The Burd Street Carnival officially came to a close Sunday evening, but not before netting a profit and providing a small drop in the bucket toward building a new community swimming pool.

A throwback to the old Firemen’s Fair of the 1960s, the early October carnival provided the community with one last hoorah of summer with games, rides, food and memories that will stick around until next year, when organizers say they plan to bring the fun back to town.
