You know what time it is? It’s time to get back on the greens.

I think this may be the first time in a year and a half that I am talking with you about an in-person event that the Cumberland Valley Animal Shelter will be having, and we are all incredibly excited and can’t wait for it to happen.

Our 9th annual Golf Tournament will be held Saturday, Sept. 18, at the Caledonia Golf Club, 9515 Golf Course Road in Fayetteville. Registration will begin at 7 a.m. with a shotgun start at 8.

The fee to golf is $55, and it includes golf, cart, range balls, beverages on course, lunch provided by Chameleon 1648 Food Truck and an awards ceremony following the game, as well as prizes. The format is a four-person scramble, flighted tournament with cash prizes.

These will be cash prizes, and we are going to have a lot of winners, so there’s a good chance you could go home with some money.

There will be six holes to give you a chance to win a prize for closest to the pin.

The Knights of Columbus in Chambersburg is a Bronze Sponsor and DiLoreto, Cosentino and Bolinger has signed up to be a cart sponsor for the tournament. We have a number of sponsorship opportunities available to get your business name out there, including hole sponsorships and Friends of the Shelter.

If you have a beloved family member – two-legged or four-legged – you would like to honor or if you would like to get the name of your business out on the greens, a hole sponsorship would be a great idea.

For $100 you can sponsor a hole, which will include a sign that all the golfers can see.

Our Friends of the Shelter sponsorships are $50 and include having your name in the program.

The more sponsorships we get, the more money we will ultimately make for our animals. So if you’re interested in a sponsorship opportunity, check out the golf tournament information on our website,, or call Mike Krugh at: (717) 263-0065.

Both mulligans and powerballs can be purchased on the day of the event to help your chances at winning some of our top cash prizes. If you bring a donation for the shelter of any one of the following items: kitten food, puppy food, Feline Pine cat litter, bleach, liquid laundry detergent, 55-gallon trash bags, tall kitchen bags, towels or blankets, you will receive an additional mulligan – an extra do-over!

Proceeds from the golf tournament will benefit the animals in our kennels and help us care for them every day. As of this writing, we have almost 250 animals in our care. It takes a lot to look after them and our golf tournament will help make sure we can.

Registration deadline for the golf tournament is Sept. 13, and you can find forms on:

So, if you have some friends who love to golf or you would love to get out on the greens for a good cause, please set aside the morning of Saturday, Sept. 18, for a game.

Mark your calendars and we can’t wait to see you!
