Pennsylvania State Police have charged Jason Bugajski, 31, of Carlisle, with homicide after he reportedly admitted to violently shaking his 10-week-old daughter, causing injuries that led to the infant's death.
Police and emergency responders with Cumberland Goodwill EMS were called to a home in the 200 block of Bonnybrook Road at 7:13 a.m. March 28, for a report of an infant in medical distress. Advanced medical attention was needed, and the infant was taken to UPMC Pinnacle Carlisle, where she was pronounced deceased by emergency room physicians.
Police said it was determined that the baby suffered recent physical injuries. An autopsy confirmed she suffered from further internal injuries.
After interviewing Bugajski, the infant's father, he admitted to shaking his daughter violently and causing the fatal injuries, police said.
Bugajski faces one count of homicide, endangering the welfare of children and reckless endangerment, and two counts of aggravated assault.
Bugajski was taken to Cumberland County Prison and bail has been denied. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for April 10 before Magisterial District Judge Susan K. Day.
