Shippensburg University sophomore guard Ariel Jones was named Thursday morning to the 2018-19 Division II Conference Commissioners Association (D2CCA) All-Atlantic Region Women’s Basketball First Team squad.

Jones, a 2018-19 All-Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) First Team performer, ranked fourth in the nation in scoring at the conclusion of the regular season with an average of 25.6 points per game. The PSAC’s scoring leader posted double figures in all 27 games she played, including 22 games with 20 or more points and nine games with 30 or more points.

Additionally, Jones led SU with 94 assists; her 3.5 assists per game ranked 10th in the conference. Her .328 three-point field goal percentage ranked seventh in the conference among qualified players and her 2.1 three-pointers per game ranked eighth in the conference.

Jones led the nation in free throws made (234) and free-throw attempts (297) – both totals that set PSAC single-season records for each category. She averaged 8.7 free throws made per game, and shot 78.8 percent at the free-throw line – a percentage that ranked 11th in the conference.

Overall, Jones finished the 2018-19 season with SU's single-season school record for points (690), a total that ranks fifth in PSAC single-season history. A full rundown of her historic season is available at www.shipraiders.com/arieljones.
