After outscoring their opponent 19-0 in a season opening doubleheader last Sunday, the Shippensburg Stars encountered their first bout with adversity just a few days later in a close 6-5 loss to the New Oxford Twins Thursday evening at Shippensburg Memorial Park.

The Stars (2-1) showed heart clawing back from an early 5-2 deficit, getting back to within a single run on AJ Farlling’s clutch 2-run single in the fifth. They then had a golden opportunity to tie the game or take the lead late, loading the bases with nobody out in the bottom of the seventh, but were unable to get the tying run across.
