Students and parents will get their first glimpse of the Shippensburg Greyhounds' fall sports teams during the annual Community Night and Pep Rally Friday.

Community Night will take place from 5-8 p.m. inside Shippensburg Area Senior High School. Greyhound sports fans will be provided food and refreshments from various Shippensburg Area Senior High School booster clubs, and the night will conclude with a pep rally inside the high school gym.

The event is free to attend and open to the public.

Food and refreshments will include:

Brownie sundaes, root beer floats and root beer courtesy of the Greyhound band boosters; Uncle Eddie’s BBQ sandwiches and mac and cheese provided by the Greyhound cheerleaders; nachos, cheese and fresh lemonade from the volleyball boosters; iced tea and walking tacos from the Ship soccer boosters; hot dogs provided by the Ship swim team; kettle popcorn courtesy of Greyhound field hockey; Gatorade and water from the cross country team; deep fried Oreos provided by Greyhound wrestling; and cupcakes from the Maroon & Grey Football Booster Club.

Spirit wear will be provided by the football boosters, and the cheerleading team will offer spirit towels. 

Reserved football seats will also be on sale, as well as season passes and punch cards for all Greyhound sporting events.

The pep rally will begin at 7 p.m. Scott Smith will emcee the event, which will feature an introduction of each of the Greyhound fall sports teams and performances by the Shippensburg high school band and cheerleaders. 

The Greyhound football team will continue their prep for the 2019 fall season Saturday morning when they host the Milton Hershey Spartans for a preseason scrimmage at 10 a.m. Week 1 kicks off Friday, August 23 with a road contest against the Dover Eagles set for 7 p.m.
