I browsed through a copy of Fly Fisherman magazine the other day, and found an ad for Off insect repellent, which isn’t unusual. However, instead of DEET, Off now contains Picaridin. I like Picaridin because it’s a safe product, but still extremely effective against mosquitoes and ticks, along with other biting flies including no-see-ums and gnats. It is effective for 12 hours.

Up until now, the easiest product to find was the Sawyer brand. Even though Off is now offered with Picaridin, I’ll probably stick with the Sawyer brand, if for no other reason than my motto, ‘you dance with who brung you.’”
