I usually wait for the third snowstorm of the season before I start tying flies and working on our fishing tackle for early spring fishing. But, this year I don’t know exactly when to start. The groundhog didn’t see its shadow and I can’t remember when the last snow laid. We also haven’t had to clear the drives, sidewalks and lanes so far.

Our trout season opens March 28, I think, and we’ve discussed going to a nearby campground for the weekend opener. We’ve already made reservations for the week after Seven Points Marina opens, when we can put our pontoon boat on its summer dock. Before you think we’re flaunting our possessions, our pontoon is a 20-foot 1997 model, which makes it more than 20 years old. It’s old, but still floats and gets us into some fish now and then, and the dock is an investment for elderly people and old knees.
