Last December, no one in the abode was in the holiday spirit. Numerous big changes had occurred and they zapped the holly-jolliness right out of us.

Very few of the vast decorations were carted down from the attic and the “official” Christmas tree was a 4-foot cheap, artificial white tree with multi-colored lights. Every time a puff of air hit its lovely, fake branches, paper “needles” fluttered to the floor. The good news is that it didn’t require many ornaments and, being elevated on a small table, it left plenty of room for gifts on the floor surrounding that table.
