Big Spring Community,
On behalf of the Big Spring School District, we would like to extend our heartfelt thank you to all that played a part in honoring our 2020 Big Spring graduates with a parade through the community. It was so gratifying to see the smiles of our graduates as they proceeded along the route. Those smiles would not have been possible without the support and leadership from the Borough of Newville, North Newton Township and West Pennsboro Township. Leadership from those three entities not only supported opening their roadways for the event, but they also provided vital guidance and personnel. The entire parade was an incredible reflection of a community coming together during trying times to honor our young people. To law enforcement entities that supported the event, The Pennsylvania State Police, Newville Borough Police, and Cumberland County Sheriff’s Department, thank you for modeling what it means for law enforcement to work with our community in making it a better place for all. To the local fire companies that came out with various equipment to transport graduates, thank you for helping support an amazing night. Lastly, I would be remiss if I did not offer a very special thank you to the two individuals that put in countless hours in making this event so very special for all, thank you to Newville Borough Council President and Big Spring staff member Scott Penner, and Borough Manager Fred Potzer. The tireless efforts of both made Friday, June 5, so very memorable for the entire Bulldog Family.
