Driving in almost silence on Route 641 from Newville to Carlisle on this almost perfect midsummer morning, the light reaches from the east and spreads itself over the valley, defining fields and farms, and you can see that it is good.

Watching our farmers work their fields for a summer harvest, you seem to know immediately why all those ancestors of ours settled here all those years ago. As you drive a little further, the homes of our people with their neatly trimmed lawns testify to the pride and care of those who live here with all sharing a promise of good for the future.
