When one looks through a microscope, one sees a ‘small sample’ (i.e. the Big Spring School District) as opposed to when one uses a telescope to view a larger universe (all 499 school districts in PA). I recently attended the PA School Board Association state-wide conference where all 499 school districts participated.

As Dr. Gennaro Piraino accepted his ‘Superintendent of the Year Award,’ he stated that “all of us face the same three challenges: Safety – Funding – Dilapidated buildings.” I listened carefully and thought of our microscopic view and smiled, believing that we have done the necessary things.
