Betty E. Heckendorn

Betty E. Heckendorn, 94, of Newville, passed away Sunday, July 7, 2019, in Green Ridge Village, Newville.

She was born Feb. 2, 1925, in Newville, the daughter of Charles Burntnett and Marion Warner Burtnett Prosser, and was the stepdaughter of Frank Prosser.

Mrs. Heckendorn was preceded in death by her husband, William M. Heckendorn.

She and her husband had built and owned Crossroads Drive-in, in Newville, she had worked at the Dress Factory, and worked in Dietary at Green Ridge Village.

She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church of Newville, and had taught Sunday School at the church. She had also been active with T.O.P.S.

Mrs. Heckendorn is survived by one son, Marlin Heckendorn and his wife, Kathy, of Damascus, Maryland; two daughters, Susan Thorn and her husband, Pete, of Newville, and Kathy Bevan and husband, Bill, of Plainfield; seven grandchildren, Brian, Ben, and Travis Motter, Kristi Eckman, Karen Thom, Samantha Nenninger, and Max Bevan; and 22 great-grandchildren.

A visitation will be held from 1 to 2 p.m. Thursday, July 25, 2019, in Zion Lutheran Church, 51 W. Main St., Newville. A memorial service will be held in the church at 2 p.m. July 25, with Rev. Amy Wagner officiating.
