Mildred G. Shannon

Mildred G. Shannon, 83, of Newville, passed away Sunday, Sept. 13, 2020, in Green Ridge Village.

She was born Aug. 23, 1937, in Shippensburg, Pennsylvania. Mildred was a daughter of the late Albert L. and Ruth Sites Kling.

She was a member of the Oakville United Methodist Church, Shippensburg.

Mildred retired in 2007, working at U-Wanna-Wash Frock, Franklin Clothing Co. and various other garment factories.

She was a collector of Boyds Bears and enjoyed cooking, baking, gardening, traveling and camping with family.

Mildred is survived by her husband, Charles R. Shannon, whom she married April 9, 1961; one daughter, Judy K. (Donald Jr.) Kail of Newville; one son, Kenneth A. (Kimberly) Shannon of Williamsburg, Virginia; four grandchildren, Mandy (Michael) Wyrick, Donald Kail III, William (fiancée, Crissy Pawlak) Shannon and David (Jamie) Shannon; nine great-grandchildren; two brothers, Chester Kling of Shippensburg and Ronald Kling of Florida; and a number of nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Elizabeth Shannon, and two sisters, Marguerite Beam and Lillian Kling.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Sept. 18, 2020, in the Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home & Crematorium, Shippensburg. Officiating will be Pastor Blanca Baker.

Burial will be in the Parklawns Memorial Gardens.

A viewing will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday evening, Sept. 17, in the funeral home.
