Marie K. Matteucci

Marie K. Matteucci, 83, of Shippensburg, went to be with her Lord on Friday, Oct. 25, 2019.

Born Friday, June 19, 1936, in Scranton, Pennsylvania, she was the daughter of the late Attilio and Kathryn Saykewicz Matteucci.

Marie was a member of Our Lady of the Visitation Catholic Church, Shippensburg.

She started her teaching career at Centerville Elementary School where she worked for three years, before going to work for the Cumberland County School System, specializing in teaching the partially blind, with 32 years of service.

She was a member of the Durff-Kuhn VFW Post #6168 Ladies Auxiliary. She volunteered at the Ric H. Luhrs Performing Arts Center at Shippensburg University, where she enjoyed transporting the performers from place to place. In her youth, she was an avid golfer, and enjoyed bowling.

Marie is survived by two nephews, Robert A. (wife, Cathy) Matteucci, North Wildwood, New Jersey, and Joseph E. (wife, Nancy) Matteucci, Cape May Court House, New Jersey; five great-nephews; three great-nieces; one great-great-nephew; one great-great-niece; and one niece-in-law, Sharon Matteucci.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Robert J. Matteucci (wife, Rachel); stepfather, Edwin Swintak; and a nephew, Mark J. Matteucci.

A memorial service will be held at Noon, Saturday, Nov. 2, 2019, at Our Lady of the Visitation Catholic Church, with Father Dwight D. Schlaline as Celebrant. Burial will be private.

A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service Saturday at the Church.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Our Lady of the Visitation Catholic Church, 305 N. Prince St., Shippensburg, Pa. 17257.
