Betty M. Bolen, 92, of Newburg, passed away Monday, July 1, 2019, in her home.

She was born Oct. 13, 1926, in Theresa, New York, the daughter of Winslow and Hazel Lilly Bailey.

She was the widow of Harry R. Bolen.

Mrs. Bolen was a former Justice of the Peace.

She was a member of Zion United Church of Christ, and had belonged to Eastern Star, and the Women's Auxiliary of the Shippensburg VFW, and the American Legion.

She is survived by one daughter, Nancy L. Shenk of Newburg; three grandchildren, Michael Manning and his wife, Amy, Karen Krupa and her husband, Jimmy, and Nicolas Bolen and his wife, Jamilyn; three stepgrandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and three step-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Harry R. Bolen; one daughter, Darlene J. Smith; one son, Harry W. “Bill” Bolen; one grandson, Scott Manning; one sister, Juanita Mitchell; and one brother, Jack Bailey.

A viewing will be held from 11 a.m. to noon, Monday July 8, 2019, in Zion United Church of Christ, Newburg. A funeral service will be held in the church at noon Monday, with the Rev. Mary Jane King officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
