Rebecca F. Butler Reed

Rebecca F. Butler Reed, 79, of Shippensburg, was promoted to glory with her Lord, on Friday, Jan. 3, 2020, surrounded by her loving family.

Born March 6, 1940, in Coudersport, Pennsylvania, she was the daughter of the late Curtis and Iva Butler of Arkport, New York.

Becky was an accomplished pianist and organist who started playing at churches as a young teenager.

She skillfully accompanied choirs and church congregations in New York, Pennsylvania, and Texas. She especially enjoyed playing for the Gospel Velvetones group, locally and in Ireland. Becky attended the Agape Fellowship in Christ Church in Harrisburg.

Becky served the community for over 15 years as a hairstylist. She enjoyed sewing, knitting and crocheting, and decorating birthday and wedding cakes for family and friends. Spending time with her family and grandchildren brought her great joy.

Becky is survived by her husband of 59 years, A. Glenn Reed; and five daughters, Loni Myers (Darrin) Dunlap, Lori (Terry) Weibley, Lisa (Bill) Reed-Porter, Lesli (Darrell) Beaver and Lenee’ Rupp Snell. Becky was loved by 10 grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

Family and friends are invited to gather for a Celebration of Becky’s life at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 11, 2020, at Premier Events in Shippensburg.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to the Grane Hospice, 1200 Camp Hill Bypass, Suite 205, Camp Hill, Pa. 17011.
