Damage discovered to the floorboards of the Ramp Covered Bridge in Hopewell Township has prompted Cumberland County officials to begin rehabilitation of the historic structure as early as mid-October. According to Hopewell Township secretary Kim Myers, damage to the floorboards was reported to township officials last Wednesday, and by later that evening, supervisors had closed the bridge to traffic and posted signs accordingly, as well as notified Hopewell Township residents about the closure through a posting on the township’s website.

“I received a phone call last Wednesday alerting me about the damage to the floorboards,” Myers explained. She said she immediately reached out to township supervisor Danny Forrester, who then went out to assess the damage and decided to close the bridge to any further traffic.
