Shippensburg Borough Council has approved an amendment to its lease agreement with Shippensburg Community Parks & Recreation Authority (SCPRA) to allow for the possession and consumption of alcoholic beverages in Memorial Park during limited circumstances.

The discussion on lifting the outright ban of alcoholic beverages in its parks arose in September, following the earlier adoption of an ordinance to allow for open containers of alcoholic beverages in public areas during designated dates and special events.
