A proposed Hampton Inn & Suites hotel on Walnut Bottom Road became the first benefactor of a minor amendment that eliminated an “excessive” subsection in Shippensburg Township zoning law Saturday.

Ekta Hospitality LLC, of Enola, who owns Holiday Inn Express & Suites on Walnut Bottom Road, submitted land development plans a few months ago for their second hotel. The 70 room, three-story hotel with a building footprint of 16,930 square feet will be constructed on the same plot of land, east of the Holiday Inn, according to the plans. Once constructed, the two hotels will line up in an “L” shape and share 153 parking spaces.
