Dr. Ken Winter

Dr. Ken Winter and his wife, Natalie, recently donated a significant amount of books to the Coy Library of Shippensburg.

The Coy Library, located at 73 W. King St. in downtown Shippensburg, has recently received a significant donation of books. The donated volumes currently occupy a vast majority of the library's annex, located above the Book Nook. This large donation, numbering 2,000 titles, was donated by retired Shippensburg University philosophy professor, Dr. Ken Winter. These books represent a large portion of his personal lifetime library. They include an extensive spectrum of topics including fiction, poetry, music, philosophy and ethics. The books were transported to the Book Nook by Todd and Chris Patterson, members of the Friends of the Library.

The next step will be to sort the books. Some will be sold on Amazon by the “Amazon Ladies”: Geri Bazner, Angie Sachleben, Karen Wetzler, Neva Craig, Brenda Davidson and Carol Hozman. Some will be sent to Better World Books, a worldwide organization that supports literacy. Other titles will find their way onto the shelves of the Book Nook where books are sold at very reasonable prices. The Friends of the Library will donate all profits from these sales directly to the Coy Library. Please consider visiting the Book Nook to find some real treasures.
