The Coy Public Library of Shippensburg held a Climate Up Close Program in the new programming room on Aug. 8. Pictured, from left, are: Nadir Jeevanjee representing Princeton University; Jake Seeley representing Harvard University; Nathaniel Tarshish representing UC Berkeley; and Aaron Match representing Princeton University. Twenty-one community members were in attendance to hear the scientists’ presentation. They began with three quotes regarding climate change that represented a full political spectrum and proceeded to find significant errors in each quote. They stated that the politicians’ information is not always in line with current scientific information. They discussed the impact of greenhouse gases as well as how to remediate this. They believe that Americans can reach their own judgments about climate change through the transparency of scientists. The scientists said they believe in coming directly to the people and presenting their findings through conversation while encouraging questions. For more information, visit: climateupclose.org.
