The Chambersburg Career Magnet School Environmental Club in Franklin County submitted the winning entry of the annual Keep Pennsylvania Beautiful Great American Cleanup of PA video contest.
The school will receive a $200 cash prize for their video of a cleanup project of Loop Road, Tallow Hill Road and a 1-mile stretch of the Conococheague Creek. The cleanup resulted in the removal and proper disposal of 111 bags of trash!
The creek section was adopted by the group through the Keep Pennsylvania Beautiful Adoption Program in 2018.
Two runners-up will receive a cash prize of $100 each. The runners-up are Snowshoe Rails to Trails Association in Centre County whose members cleaned Black Bear Trail near Winburne, and Western PA School for the Deaf in Allegheny County, whose students performed a litter cleanup of their campus and community and planted trees at a local park.

The contest generated a lot of excitement and friendly competition among participants,” said Shannon Reiter, president of Keep Pennsylvania Beautiful. “These videos, viewed by over 17,000 people, are a fun way to recognize the efforts of local organizations and promote and encourage our collective mission of making our communities clean and beautiful.”

Each year, Keep Pennsylvania Beautiful holds a video contest as a culmination of their statewide cleanup initiative, the Great American Cleanup of PA and as a way for community groups to highlight their local programs.
Winners were chosen according to who received the most likes on Facebook during the voting period.
