The Chambersburg Ballet will present the finale of its 2018-19 Performance Season with Shakespeare’s “A Midsummer Night’s Dream” at Chambersburg’s historic Capitol Theatre, at 2 and 6:30 p.m. Saturday, June 15. The performances will feature 46 local dancers, including members of the Chambersburg Ballet, students of the Chambersburg Ballet Theatre School, the company’s official school, plus three professional guest artists from the Ithaca Ballet: Samantha Iddings (Titania), Kevin Olmstead (Oberon) and Johann Studier (Bottom).
The company’s Resident Ballet Artist, Marina Addlesberger, will dance the role of Hermia, partnered by Cole Nissely as Lysander. The role of Helena will be danced by Alcinda Burchill, partnered by Andre McFarlane as Demetrius.
“A Midsummer Night’s Dream” is set to the music of Felix Mendelsohn, and was choreographed by the school and company’s founder and Artistic Director, Lavinia Reid, with costume designs by Reid and Angela Scimonelli. Costumes and props were embellished with blacklight paint by artist Alan Bell of Philadelphia and Reid. Scenery and props are by Sarah Reid, Laurie Conrad, Jef Savage, Jon Griemsman, Rachel Burchill, Tina Burchill and Michael Doll.
